The Historic Miami Circle
is a nationally significant archaeological property that is the former location
of the primary village of the Tequesta People. The Tequesta’s were considered one of the first Native North
American groups encountered by Juan Ponce de Leon in 1513.
In 1999 the 38-foot circle
was bought by $26.7 in million by the taxpayers to restore it for public use. The site can be accessed by walking down the drive-way of Icon Brickell or through Brickell Park (by Icon's south tower) along the bay walk by Icon Brickell.
