Calling all Miami HEAT Fans...pack-up the cazuelas and spatulas and join the procession

Miami HEAT 2013 Championship Parade Scheduled for Monday

This weekend, while the City of Miami and HEAT officials are finalizing the preparations for Monday’s mega parade Miami HEAT fans are packing up the cazuelas, spatulas, maracas… and stocking-up on HEAT championship gear to participate in the almost two mile parade this coming Monday, June 24th.
The festivities celebrating the Miami HEAT 2013 NBA Championship win, against the San Antonio Spurs, are expected to commence as early as 9:00 am (roads will be closing at 8:00 am), while the parade is scheduled to start at 11:00 am.
City of Miami officials are estimating as many as 500,000 fans will be spread out along the entire route.  Only fans with tickets to the Championship Celebration will be allowed to enter the American Airlines Arena for the celebratory rally inside.
For those HEAT fans that attended last year’s parade, the same procession has been mapped.
The parade one-way route will begin at the corner of S.W 8th Street & 2nd Avenue in the financial district of Miami.  The parade caravan will head east on 8th Street and then north on Brickell Avenue, across the bridge, curve onto Biscayne Boulevard and will head North on Biscayne Boulevard.  The parade route will end at the American Airlines Arena (N.E. 8th Street), around 12:30 pm

See parade route map below (map is from Miami Downtown Development Authority).

Note - B.Y.O.C – bring your own cazuelas (pots, pans, spatulas…), but leave the backpacks at home, as they will not be allowed for security reasons.  Please plan for traffic delays and road closures along the route between 8:00 am until 3:00pm.  According to the Miami Downtown Development Authority, the City of Miami Trolley and several Metrobus routes will be detoured, including routes 3, 6, 8, 11, 24, 48, 77, 207, 208, C and S.
